Dunkin’ Donuts in Irvine! How exciting!

This is crazy! Dunkin’ Donuts is planning to open a thousand location just in Cali alone! Who would have thought that Cali will be flooded with Donuts soon! Right now, there are about 200 Dunkin’ Donuts store who are in the works just in greater Los Angeles area. Earlier of 2015, Dunkin’ Donuts first store opened in Laguna Hills and what fascinates me is the fact that it is a 24 hour shop! Amazing! Then, their second shop was opened in Santa Ana and I’ve heard that another store will open in Westminster this month. I think I’ll go sugar rush before the year ends!

Irvine which is just close to my home is going to have a 24 hour shop with drive-through! Isn’t it that wonderful?! Well, whenever I crave for Boston Kreme at wee hours in the morning, at least I know where I can get it from!

Old Man Rocky

I never thought I’d see the boxing legend of the Rocky films turn mellow, wise, and grey, comfortably away from the spotlight. In Creed (2015), he becomes a mentor to Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis Creed. If any, I find Rocky’s extreme patience yet astute guidance towards Adonis admirable, even moving, as he passes on his glory days to someone only beginning.

The contrast between the Rocky Balboa then and the Rocky now can be jarring, but I welcome it. When a film attempts to show another side of a character, I get further engaged. It’s a challenge to keep a franchise going without wearing fans out, but I believe Rocky’s evolution as a character is worth appreciating!

San Bernardino, California: My Deepest Sympathy!

With the recent tragic event happened in San Bernardino County of California, I personally sympathize to all victims, I agree that no amount of words cannot describe the horror and sadness the county suffered. I would like to share the statement made by James Ramos, County Board of Chairman:
“Words cannot describe the sadness and horror the Board of Supervisors feels in the wake of this unimaginable tragedy.

The county’s role and focus at this point is providing support and safety to our employees, their loved ones, and our community. For that reason, the Board of Supervisors tonight took action to suspend all but only the most essential county services tomorrow, December 3, and Friday, December 4.

The Board will do everything within its power to assist, provide services, and comfort everyone affected by this traumatic event.

Law enforcement has the county’s full support in its effort to address this incident, find out what happened and why, and bring those responsible to justice.

I would like to thank Governor Brown for personally contacting me to offer his condolences and support during this difficult times. The county is thankful for the support our agencies have received from the state, the federal government, and our neighboring cities and counties.”

Kobe’s Retiring!

Kobe’s over 20-year career in NBA where he spent entirely in Los Angeles have brought LA Lakers to win 5 NBA Championships! This is already a milestone for most players in NBA. Recently, he said that he is just finishing up this season and will retire after. Quoting what he has said on The Player’s Tribute site “ This is all I have left to give. My heart can take the pounding. My mind can handle the grind but my body knows it’s time to say goodbye. And that’s OK. I’m ready to let [you] go”.  He actually wrote a poem about him leaving NBA. I never thought he is such a poetic person!

With Bryant’s last season in NBA, it gave a million dollar resale market on tickets and ticket prices went skyrocket! Well, I wouldn’t be surprised anymore as fans would definitely miss him playing in the court! As a fan, I really love his passion whenever he plays and his move will definitely be missed after he retires.

Lakers coach Byron Scott was actually shocked by Kobe’s announcement and left him sad. I believe not only he is sad about this news but for most fans definitely.  NBA wouldn’t be the same again without Kobe around.

To date, Kobe has won 17 NBA All-Star selection, an NBA MVP, 5 Championships, and 2 Olympic Gold Medals. What an achievement indeed! Quoting Adam Silver’s statement “Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest players in the history of our game”. Surely, he does! A legend and an inspiration to many!

Robbie Keane and the LA Galaxy

LA Galaxy, having only 33 players all-time named to MLS Best XI, continues to lead the Major League Soccer. Today, Robbie Keane was named to be the 2015 BEST MLS XI where he earned a spot to the MLS BEST XI and have been in the top spot for four consecutive seasons. How cool is that!?

Robbie who is now 35 years has led the LA Galaxy for 4-consecutive seasons and recorded a career-high 20 goals in just merely 24 appearances. According to the Glaxy captain, Kene also added an additional 8 assists during the MLS Regular season, his .87 goals per 90 minutes has marked the highest in any MLS seasons comparing to any other player that recorded over a thousand minute.

Overall, Robbie has top notched 73 goals, 43 assists in over 108 regular season appearances. On the other hand, he has 9 goals and 6 assists during the playoffs in his 18 appearances!! I would say, Robbie has been the monster in this game and we will see in the upcoming playoffs if there’s someone who can match his skills.

As early as now, fans can avail the LA Galaxy Season Ticket Memberships for the 2016 season and what good about this is that members can enjoy a number of benefits for being just a fan such as discount pricing, access to 2016 season member event, full season tickets to LA Galaxy II, access to stadium and many more!

I think I should get one now, and invite some friends to be part of it as well! This is really awesome! Can hardly wait!

Happy Thanksgiving To All!!

Thanksgiving Day is widely celebrated in Canada and in the United States. It is a day of giving thanks for the blessing of having a good harvest each year. In the United States, it is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It is said to have religious historical roots and cultural traditions which began in 1621.

To date, Thanksgiving Day is the time for most people to give thanks for what they have and it is a special time for families and friends to get together for a very special meal. It is also one of the busiest periods for travel in the United States where it can cause traffic congestion and overcrowding.

Having said these all, I believe I have to prepare in advance to dine-in at the best place for my family and friends!

I would like to wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving Day! Cheers to a fruitful year that was and welcoming another year full of harvest!!

Collective Soul’s “Shine”

Collective Soul has been my favorite band since the start of their career in ’93. Their debut album was recorded in a basement . The song “Shine” was carted up by Amy Staehling, who was the host of Georgia Music Show at Album 88 in Atlanta, and later on added to the station’s rotation.

Since then “Shine” has been the most requested song in the air making the band earned instant popularity in the industry and made the song its first official line-up where Atlantic Records subsequently signed them to a contract.

‘twas in ’93 where Atlantic Records released the album Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid which includes the phenomenal song “shine” where later on they received international recognition and a double-platinum award.

Every-time I listen to “shine” it never fails to let me walk down the memory lane as this was my hymn to my father.

Kyoto!

Did you know that Kyoto, to many Japanese known it as old Japan and to them was considered the city of temples and universities, was off limits for bombing during WW2? It was originally targeted for the A bomb. However, the USA war secretary spared it because he honeymooned there! Strange, right?!?!

Most Japanese left clueless still why the spare and the most logical to them was that Kyoto was not heavily industrialized.

Therefore, the aim was made to bomb Hiroshima making it as the new target which later on bombed Nagasaki.

Anyone who has visited Kyoto has called it the world’s most beautiful city. I’ve heard nothing short of amazing stories. Adding this to the top of my list! Can’t wait!
